As an illustrator and Designer, my visual Identity is very important. My logo and visuals need to be on par with the work I want to provide. This can be a daunting task for any designer. A year back I designed this piece and decided it was the perfect mesh between my illustration and design. It has my style written all over it and I love it... But I made a huge mistake. I forgot to think about who I was designing for... you! I looked through my Instagram for answers and realized I was missing something. Every person I follow with a passion uses their personal photo as their avatar. The logos with illustrations just aren't as personal. Maybe this is coincidence and I definitely could be wrong, but it couldn't hurt to try. Knowing I needed to be even more personal with my brand I swallowed my pride and moved the illustration as a secondary logo asset. I then got my photo taken. Lucky for me, my wife is a photographer There is a reason its harder to create something with your name on it and hand it over under your photo. You have to really stand by your work, and ultimately I think that is what people want to know. "Will you do your best work for me?", and to me, that's always the goal.
